The Weather
Red Rocks Amphitheatre, as an outdoor venue, can be subject to adverse weather conditions that interrupt concerts – most frequently caused by severe hail storms that hit the venue directly.
Just this week, a hail storm struck an amphitheater west of Denver during a Louis Tomlinson concert, forcing organizers to postpone it due to marble-sized hail that caused many fans to flee for cover and seven people being taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a result of it.
The weather incident ignited debate over who should bear responsibility for failing to provide concertgoers with adequate shelter during extreme weather. Some blamed the venue itself while others stressed the importance of personal responsibility in Western culture. There may be some things a venue can do to increase safety and security at extreme weather events; it would not be fair to hold it fully responsible.
