WWE SmackDown Denver preview: What you need to know Tuesday night at the Pepsi Center

World Wrestling Entertainment returns for Day 2 in the Mile High City on Tuesday when “SmackDown” is broadcast live at the Pepsi Center. Here’s what you need to know:

Information

Time: 6 p.m. Tuesday
Venue: Pepsi Center
TV: USA Network

The announced card

WWE champion AJ Styles and Samoa Joe’s contract signing: These two have had history in the pro-wrestling world dating back to their pre-WWE days. As with every contract signing, look for a brawl to break out.
Shinsuke Nakamura (United States champion) vs. Tye Dillinger: These two have been jawing on Twitter this past week. They face each other in a non-title match.
Big E vs. Sheamus: In addition to a wrestling match, expect flying pancakes and a trombone (Seriously).
Rusev and Aiden English promo: Rusev was betrayed by his once teammate Aiden English last week on “SmackDown.” Now, the “Bulgarian Brute” wants answers.

The titles

WWE Champion: AJ Styles

Who is he? “The Phenomenal One” is arguably the best in-ring performer in the WWE — and possibly the world — today. He has held the title since November 2017.
Who is he feuding with? Samoa Joe. These two have been battling in the ring since their days in Ring of Honor in the early 2000s. In their latest feud, Joe has been playing mind games with Styles, attacking the champion with
Cheer or boo? Cheer.

WWE United States Champion: Shinsuke Nakamura

Who is he? Eccentric Japanese wrestler who like to kick people. Since winning the title, he’s been pushing his “Nak-America” agenda and refusing to put his title on the line against wrestlers he deems unworthy.
Who is he feuding with? No one at the moment. He’s had a minor exchange with Tye Dillinger on Twitter, but that’s likely to build up Tuesday’s match.
Cheer or boo? Boo. But no one will fault you for cheering. Nakamura is entertaining.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion: Becky Lynch

Who is she? Fiery two-time women’s champion who recently turned from a happy, pun-filled fighter to a no-nonsense brawler.
Who is she feuding with? Charlotte Flair. The two former best friends are now at odds after Flair found her way into Lynch’s title shot at SummerSlam and won the match. Lynch attacked her afterward and later beat Flair for the title at Hell In A Cell.
Cheer or boo? Cheer. She’s an anti-hero.

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions: The New Day

Who are they? The goofy pancake-tossing, unicorn-horn-wearing, trombone-playing five-time tag-team champions are the epitome of entertainment.
Who are they feuding with? Sheamus and Cesaro. No strangers in the ring, these two teams are slated for a title match at WWE Super Show-Down in two weeks.
Cheer or boo? Cheer. Just try not to.

Other notable feuds

The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan: These two have had a feud building for more than a year. The Miz is angry because Bryan disparages his style and approach to wrestling. Bryan is angry because The Miz stole his moveset and constantly interferes with his matches.

What else to expect

Two matches in the WWE Mixed Match Challenge tournament will take place after the show. Colorado’s own Bobby Lashley teams up with Mickie James to take on Alicia Fox and Jinder Mahal. And Carmella and R-Truth face off with last year’s champions Asuka and The Miz. The matches will air live on Facebook.
