In accordance with Silong, this celebrity wasn’t aware the money he contributed went to paying for the school creator ’s Lexus rather than the faculty ’s maintenance and operations.

Some people suggested that the celebrity might be Thomas Ong.

Ong is proven to have been supporting a Cambodian school called Sopheak’s Friendship School since 2013.

It appears that Ong isn’t the celebrity in question.

At a Shin Min Daily News (SMDN) meeting published on May 29, Ong denied he is the celebrity cited by Silong.

“I would like ’t even have S$100,000 in my bank account,” Ong informed SMDN. “I’m an ordinary actor. ”

Ong went on to describe that he meets Sopheak Phountam, the leader of Sopheak’s Friendship School, every time he visits Cambodia. He also said that he is knowledgeable about the amounts from the faculty ’s bank account.

Further, Ong advised SMDN that Sopheak rides a bike Rather than a automobile that was branded:

“The principal wants to deliver an instruction for Cambodians. He only receives a salary of US$350 (S$483) monthly. In Cambodia, a 2001 Lexus costs US$15,000 (S$20,705). He would need to save without drinking or ingesting — to be able to manage it. ”

In accordance with SMDN, Sopheak himself refused owning a car and insisted that he has never achieved anything.

Sopheak insisted that every cent has been spent on school and kids.

Ad Silong confirmed that he Wasn’t referring to Ong

When SMDN contacted Silong, the latter confirmed he wasn’t speaking about Sopheak nor even Ong in his original article. In fact, Silong doesn’t understand them both.

Silong told the paper that the incident actually happened from 2015. Along with the Cambodian closed down the NGO after he had pulled enough money from the Singaporean celebrity.

In accordance with SMDN, Silong refused to disclose the name of the celebrity, but he insisted that the incident did occur.

Silong added that he is unsure if these practices are still occurring.

Meanwhile, on the topic of contributions, Ong clarified that he doesn’t manage contributions to the school unless he is knowledgeable about the donor.

“Many friends know I have construct schools in Cambodia and they wish to donate. But, I won’t ever accept money from someone else I am unfamiliar with. Typically, I do not accept contributions. Currency is a very sensitive subject; it’s far better to donate to the school directly. ”

Despite this, Ong still expects for people to return to contribute to Cambodian schools:

“If there is a kind soul who wishes to donate to the school construction fund, they’re more than welcome. I will bring donors to Cambodia to scrutinize the faculty ’s accounts. It’s very transparent. ”
