It appears the Dead will grow at Folsom Field next summer, since the University of Colorado permit the cat out of the bag on Dead & Company’s intends to play Boulder to the fourth straight year.

The band — featuring John Mayer and a few of those four living members of the Grateful Dead — hasn’t announced specifics of a summer 2019 tour. But CU’s Athletic Department posted event and ticketing advice on the last week to get a set of Folsom Field concerts, scheduled for July 5 and 6, to be co-presented by promoters AEG Live and Live Nation.

When asked regarding the Dead & Company concerts, CU spokesman Ryan Huff stated in an email, “We aim to host concerts in summer 2019, however we are not prepared to announce anything yet about dates or rings. ”

Dead & Company has played with two-night stands at Folsom Field every summer as 2016, when the ring finished a 15-year dry spell for live music at CU’s football stadium. Through the 1970s and ancient ’80s, Folsom Field was a concert venue, hosting the likes of the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Van Halen and, on many occasions, the first Grateful Dead.

Since CU resumed allowing music at Folsom Field at 2016, no other band has been booked to play with the campus stadium. Dead & Company continue played there last July 13 and 14.

The presumed 2019 Dead & Company displays are set for the Friday and Saturday nights of the extended Fourth of July weekend, so Colorado rock lovers could celebrate Memorial Day weekend using an Stones and invest a very long Independence Day weekend with the Dead.

Dead & Company features singer-guitarist Bob Weir and drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, all of the Grateful Dead, plus Mayer — a pop superstar in his own right — along with bassist Oteil Burbridge and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti.
