Grading the Week: Much like a cold can of Pepsi, Ball Arena is fine

We here at Grading the Week are nothing if not extreme believers.

Which is why We’ve chosen to waste no time in fixing the most important topic of week at Colorado sports arena …

Ball Arena — C

Nobody chooses Pepsi. At least not with their original option.

Usually, it’s ’s something that you agree to drink only following your server advises you, “Sorry, we only transport Pepsi products. ”.

So if we really be heartbroken that Kroenke Sports and Entertainment decided to say goodbye to Pepsi Center and hello to Ball Arena? Probably not.

We’re only talking about corporate associates, after all. And Ball Corporation is local, with headquarters in Broomfield.

Then again, we’re former Chicago residents who steadfastly refuse to refer to Sears Tower with anything other than the title the Good Lord gave it. So we get itPeople and locations ought to be called by their right name.

Apt as the title might be for a basketball place, it’s likely to take some time until Ball Arena seems right.

Permit ’s only hope it doesn’t deliver LaVar Ball the incorrect message.

Vic Fangio — B+
Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio ...Andy Cross, The Denver PostDenver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio from the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium Oct. 18, 2020.

Is it just us, or is there any new Vic Fangio in town?

The Broncos head coach has dialed up blitzes in crucial moments, allow his young quarterbacks chuck it all over the area (perhaps even if he shouldn’t) and normally prepared to win the last few weeks.

It’s helped them (these blitz calls, particularly the previous one in New England), also it’therefore damage them (four, count ’em, four fourth-quarter interceptions). But darn if it isn’t enjoyable to observe.

The Grading the Week staff might become accustomed to the new variant of Vic.

We’re here to your own entertainment. Even if it’s comedy.

Brandon McManus — A
Denver Broncos kicker Brandon McManus (8) ...Andy Cross, The Denver PostDenver Broncos kicker Brandon McManus (8) reaches his second field goal of the game from the New England Patriots in the first quarter at Gillette Stadium Oct. 18, 2020. Denver Broncos punter/holder Sam Martin (6) held for McManus.

Talking of the Broncos, how about McMoney?

Brandon McManus doesn’t desire your thin atmosphere to boot field objects from 50-plus.

Only look at exactly what he’s performed in the team’s previous two games, connecting on cries of 52, 53 and 54 metres (twice) while playing on the Eastern Seaboard. We’re pretty sure a number of these would’ve been great from much longer.

It looked strange at the time when Denver signed McManus to a four-year expansion days prior to the 2020 period began. It looks like John Elway may ’ve bought low.

Denver South — A-

There would’ve been only one defense for keeping the Rebels nickname at Denver South High School:

If the powers that have had altered the mascot to Admiral Ackbar and aligned themselves with Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance, they’d ’ve got the thumbs up in the Grading the Week offices.

Unfortunately, there’therefore a good chance Disney wouldn’t’ve signed off on that — grand since it may have been.

Therefore, without Ackbar available, the school made the ideal move by slumping a nickname with apparent ties to the Confederacy.

While we might have gone with something a little less offensive than the Ravens — Are we really the only ones who recall Joe Flacco’s Mile High miracle bomb? — it’s certainly not worth making a fuss .

Just like a cold can of Pepsi, it’s fine.
