Disturbed’s David Draiman on Evolution, That “Black Album” Comment, and 2019 Arena Tour

Disturbed are just going to kick off their biggest North American tour in the career, headlining major arenas in support of the latest record, Evolution, which came in October.

The trek starts tomorrow , January 9th, at San Diego, California, using fellow heavy hit-makers Three Days Grace supplying support during the jaunt.

We ended up with Disturbed frontman David Draiman to not only talk about the excursion, but to discuss Evolution, the first single “Are You Ready”, along with the headline-making remark Draiman created to Metal Hammer about the new disk, when he explained, “To me, this is our lsquo;Black Album’,” referencing Metallica’s multiplatinum 1991 self-titled disk.

In the video interview under, Draiman explains the “Black Album” remark, saying, “The thick irony about that is that everybody took one little blurb form a three-page post in Metal Hammer and reposted it at every single publication in existence, and then it makes it look that I’m telling everybody that this is our ‘Black Album’. ”

He continues, “What did it signify for Metallica? It opened the doors to get them. It took them into the next level. It enabled them to expand their fan base dramatically … which is my expectation for this record. We truly feel that this is the strongest body of work we’ve ever created. ”

So far as the tour is worried, Draiman tells us, “Each one of these performances will span approximately two hours. It will go through our whole discography … It’ll feature aspects of production that people ’ve never tried,” including, “It’s likely to be an experience for lovers … that is unlike anything that they ’ve ever seen. ”

See more of Draiman’s thoughts on those topics, as well as attaining a platinum record with Immortalized and much more, at the video below, along with the dates for your band’s 2019 North American market with Three Days Grace.
