Cale Makar turned 21 on Wednesday along with the Avalanche defenseman celebrated with a brief brawl inside the Pepsi Center.
Go on and place the bouncer. Makar isn’t afraid to battle.
In the phase of Colorado’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Panthers, Avs goalie Phillip Grubauer covered a puck while Florida winger Dryden Hunt continued to poke away at it. Makar took exception and two-hand pushed Hunt across the crease. After Hunt returned the favor by knocking Makar to the ice, his Avalanche teammates reacted quickly, with forward Nazem Kadri evaluated a 5-minute penalty for fighting.

Physicality was not isolated for the moment on Wednesday night. From the context of participant development, however, Makar’s openness to get demanding is worth a second look.

“He’s got a tiny edge to his game,” coach Jared Bednar explained. “He’so hardy on his skates. We’ve seen it in we and his college game ’ve seen it at times where rsquo finish & he checks. You know you & rsquo; re likely to get some pushback After you do that. ”
Makar has appeared in 22 career NHL games (12 regular season) because creating his rookie debut final playoffs. Bednar had previously told reporters that Makar’s adjustment to the aggressive nature of the NHL would be one of his greatest first learning curves, or as Makar put it just, “You’ve just got to be ready to be hit in any way times. ”
Makar was around the ice for 20:30 from the Panthers, next one of Avs defensemen, also showcased the effortless speed and technological command in transition that made him the team’s overall draft pick in 2017. Makar didn’t even record showcased growth nonetheless although a point.
The lesson for opponents would be don’t be duped by those rosy cheeks. Makar is growing grown-man physicality.
“Whatever scenario they need me to perform , I’ll be all set for it,” Makar said. “Obviously, I must learn a good deal and I&rsquo just sort of out there trying to play with my game. … We& & rsquo;ve got youthful energy, but in the exact identical time, we’ve obtained Erik Johnson along with Ian Cole; lots of men to lean on for experience. ”
