Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is both a natural marvel and music mecca. The towering sandstone monoliths surrounding its stage are evidence of millions of years of geological evolution, providing a stunning musical backdrop.

The Amphitheatre first opened its doors in 1941 and since then has hosted an impressive roster of musicians. Additionally, this venue hosts many films and other special events throughout summertime.

It’s a natural wonder

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is an impressive natural phenomenon owing its stunning acoustics to the rocks themselves. Formed during Laramide orogeny 40-70 million years ago, when sandstone formations like Ship Rock and Creation Rock were compressed together creating the unique rock structures seen today – perfect for concerts or hikes alike! The venue never ceases to impress visitors of all kinds!

Geologic history of this venue is equally fascinating to performances that take place there. First utilized for performances in 1906 when John Brisben Walker (purchaser of Cosmopolitan Magazine) purchased and converted it into an outdoor symphonic hall, it remains in use today as an outdoor concert space.

Red Rocks has long been known for hosting performances by musicians from a wide variety of genres, with iconic performances by The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Grateful Dead among many others. Additionally, John Tesh, U2 and other noteworthy acts have played there too. Additionally, Red Rocks provides shelter to local wildlife including deer, coyotes and rabbits.

It’s a music mecca

Red Rocks Amphitheater is an internationally renowned amphitheater known for its natural acoustics and breathtaking rock formations, which make for an unforgettable concert experience. Red Rocks has hosted some of the greatest performances ever seen at an amphitheater – most famously U2’s 1983 performance, captured on their “Under a Blood Red Sky” live album as evidence. Red Rocks continues to attract musicians and music enthusiasts from all over the globe today.

Red Rocks Park boasts a Visitor Center which features educational displays and a short documentary on its geological and historical significance. Open during park hours, this center serves as the starting point for numerous guided tours through Red Rocks.

Red Rocks concert attendees should select seats within the first 10-15 rows for maximum viewing pleasure and sound quality. Seats higher up may provide limited views and audio. Bring a blanket for comfortable seating as well as nonalcoholic beverages in factory sealed plastic bottles (unless prohibited by show organizers) plus binoculars to enhance your viewing experience.

It’s a tourist destination

Red Rocks Amphitheatre offers visitors an unforgettable concert experience, but it is also a popular tourist attraction. Take a self-guided tour outside of concert schedule and explore at leisure; fitness gurus may be practicing yoga, running sprints and burpee-ing up and down steps of amphitheater!

The venue is known for its incredible acoustics, which draw performers even when larger stadiums would provide greater ticket sales opportunities. Artists such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Grateful Dead have graced its stages many times over, leaving their mark upon it and leaving an impactful legacy behind them.

Before arriving for an event, guests are encouraged to pack a picnic and soak in the mountain views with picnickers and enjoy parking lots opening two hours early for event start times. Arriving early helps avoid long lines to enter and exit; parking lots fill quickly during concert days!

It’s a venue

Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre may have once been home to dinosaurs 160 million years ago, but today its giant sandstone rocks host some of the world’s finest singers and musicians. Along with hosting music concerts, this venue also hosts Easter sunrise services, musicals/ballet performances, weddings/wedding receptions/wedding screenings as well as movie screenings/screenings of movies – something no other venue in Colorado does!

No matter its steep pitch, this venue boasts exceptional acoustics that allow listeners to see the stage clearly. As weather can often be unpredictable and even a light breeze may alter sound quality significantly, guests should dress warmly and bring plenty of water – you might need it during an unpredictable performance!

Red Rocks Concert Park is an experience you won’t want to miss, hosting acts such as The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, U2 and even Rolling Stones (though their show wasn’t sold out). Red Rocks’ famed tunnel connecting backstage with audience features signatures of musicians. There are no bad seats here; although space may become limited during popular events.
