Pearl Jam postpones North American tour, including Denver concert, amid coronavirus outbreak

DENVER (KDVR) — Pearl Jam would be postponing the first leg of its upcoming trip, the Seattle-based group announced Monday.

Pearl Jam was first scheduled to play at the Pepsi Center on April 9 as part of its Gigaton Tour.

The group said through Twitter that its own associates made the decision in the attention of patrons’ safety and well-being amid that the coronavirus outbreak.

The statement was created “with deep frustration and sorrow,” the group stated.

The displays will be rescheduled for a later date.

“We’ve worked hard with all our direction and business associates to discover different solutions or options but the amounts of risk to our audience as well as their communities is just too high for our comfort level,” the group stated.

The tour’s first leg has been set to start March 18 in Toronto. The group would have ceased prior to the first leg finished on April 19.

The second leg of the tour — which features all European cities — is set to start on June 23. It has not yet been canceled.
