Nets, Spencer Dinwiddie agree to contract extension worth about $34 million

NEW YORK — The Brooklyn Nets gave Spencer Dinwiddie a contract extension Thursday, a day following the very best match of his profession.

The three-year extension is going to be worth roughly $34 million to the guard who had been playing in the NBA G League before he signed with the Nets on Dec. 8, 2016.

He’s gone on to become one of their players and played with a career-high 39 things, the most by any player off the bench in the NBA this season, in a victory at Philadelphia on Wednesday.

“The trip is just starting,” Dinwiddie composed on Twitter. “I’damn thankful that @brooklynnets believe in me to give me a house. ”

Not to mention a wonderful increase from the $1.7 million he’hence making this season.

Dinwiddie was third in voting for the Most Improved Player last season and might find himself in the race to the Sixth Man of the Year award this past season. He is averaging 16.9 points, helping the Nets overcome the loss of scoring pioneer Caris LeVert to harm.

Dinwiddie became eligible to sign an extension last week but it was unclear when the Nets would provide you one, which might cut. But Dinwiddie and leaders have performed well and been among the team it off, so they decided it was worth it to cover now.

The deal’s third year is a player choice and all three years are guaranteed.

Dinwiddie was a second-round pick of Detroit in 2014 but spent his first couple seasons with the Pistons and Chicago Bulls going back and forth in the G League. His big opportunity came last season when the Nets lost point guards Jeremy Lin and D’Angelo Russell to accidents and he proceeded to average 12.6 points.
