#EmmysSoWhite: Despite Its Most Diverse Nominations Ever, Zero POC Win Major Acting Trophies At The Emmys

Even with a record number of people of color nominated, the Emmys still kept their ceremony white with no color in the actual winners for acting categories.

Last night, the 2021 Emmys took place at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles and while the guest list was limited due to COVID, the stars still showed up. Everyone showed up dressed to impress and making up for all the 2020 RSVPs that never happened.

One of the most exciting parts of this year’s Emmy Awards was the inclusion of more people of color than ever before in the nominations. Sadly enough, the Emmy’s remained as white as possible with not one person of color taking home an award for any of the acting categories. Outside of acting Emmys, Michaela Coel won the writing for a limited series category for her series, I May Destroy You.

Rupaul went on to make history, breaking the record for the most Emmy wins by a person of color as RuPaul’s Drag Race was named outstanding competition program and landing RuPaul Emmy number 11.

Take a look below for the full list of winners from last night.
