Fresh off the NHL All-Star rest and in the middle an eight-day hiatus from ice hockey entirely, the Avalanche sits at the specific same position as it did to conclude last season.
So which has been 2017-18.
Colorado (22-20-8) has 52 points and barely regulates the eighth and final Western Conference playoff position, the identical place it barely ended in April with 95 points (43-30-9).
The difference between the seasons is achievement in your home. The Avs tied a franchise record with 28 wins in the Pepsi Center last season, but are below average in producing two things at home this year. Their current “official” home album is 10-8-5, that is actually 10-13 in straight-up wins/losses.
They were 28-11-2 last season in The Can, in which winning was the norm.
Colorado has dropped its last two games at home but expects to turn it around using its initial two games out of the break, starting Saturday night against the visiting Vancouver Canucks. The Avs conclude a five-game stretch of home games Feb. 5 against the Columbus Blue Jackets before starting a highly difficult road trip at Washington, the New York Islanders and Boston.
Colorado (12-12-3 about the road) will have a shot at creating back-to-back Stanley Cup playoff looks if it can again become dominant in Denver.
