Jason Dickinson had yet to earn a consistent role for Its Dallas Stars until Trainer Jim Montgomery took over in 2018. Over two seasons after, Dickinson felt as shocked as everybody else to find the group had fired Montgomery.
“I wasn’t fully aware of the situation and only the gravity of it,” Dickinson told The Denver Post on Tuesday morning in The Pepsi Center before game time involving the Stars and Avalanche.
Montgomery, trainer DU’s 2017 NCAA championship baseball team, was dismissed with cause from the Stars on Dec. 10 for “unprofessional conduct” — without a further explanation from Stars ownership. Montgomery afterwards told The Dallas Morning News his firing was that the “appropriate call” and announced he entered an inpatient residential program for alcohol misuse.
“It’s good for him he’s getting the help he wants,” Dickinson explained. “For me he was a excellent aid in my success last year and getting me into a stage of being a regular in the lineup and finding my game. I admire him and love everything that he did for me.

“I hope he’s able to continue (training ) someplace in some aspect because I know he will help a whole lot of players. He’s got a fantastic head for the game. He will get himself where he wants to be on live a life. ”
An leadership change didn’t deliver the Stars . Dallas is turning into interim coach Rick Bowness. Entering Tuesday night, the Stars sit one point before Colorado (56-55) for second place in the Central Division.
“That’s only a nod to the maturity of the group,” Dickinson explained. “It’s not something which fazes us as our (staying ) coaching staff has been good. ”
