Avalanche prized rookie Cale Makar will return in the eight-game injury absence Friday night when Colorado hosts the Minnesota Wild. Makar, who has fallen from first to second in NHL rookie is currently recovering .
“Obviously, you never wish to get injured. But at precisely the identical time, it is what it is,” Makar said after Friday’s skate in the Pepsi Center. “And these things take time. So for anything that comes your way, you need to prepare yourself. Now, I’m just excited to be back. ”
Makar has 28 points (eight goals) in 29 games. He’s Colorado’s second-leading scorer but now tied with forward Joonas Donskoi.
Makar, 21, is second in the NHL rookie scoring race behind Buffalo’s Victor Olofsson, who has 34 points in 38 games.
