Avalanche’s Nathan MacKinnon named 2019-20 Ted Lindsay Award finalist

Avalanche ahead Nathan MacKinnon on Tuesday was named among three finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award, which is given “into the player in the NHL,” as hunted by his fellow players.

MacKinnon, 24, tallied 36 goals and 58 assists for a total of 93 points throughout the regular season, ranking in the top 10 at the NHL in all three categories. He led the Colorado into some 42-20-8 record, the second-best in the Western Conference and two points behind Central Division pioneer St. Louis.

Forwards Leon Draisaitl of the Oilers and Artemi Panarin of these Rangers are the other finalists.

This award’s winner will be announced during the conference at date yet to be decided.

This is actually the next time MacKinnon has called a finalist for the award. He had been recognized in 2017-18, but dropped to Oilers ahead Connor McDavid. Colorado has one winner of this award in its own background — Joe Sakic at 2000-01.
