Avalanche forward Martin Kaut crouched on one knee, sent a flurry of fist pumps and received a bath from captain Gabe Landeskog in the Pepsi Center on Wednesday night.

It was an celebration worthy of Kaut’s first NHL goal.

And, wait, it becomes better.

“My mother was still here,” Kaut told reporters in the Avs postgame locker room following a 3-2 win against Buffalo. “That aim was to my mother. ”

Kaut’s journey from the Czech Republic to this landmark tough. The prior 2018 first-round draft option mainly failed to fulfill expectations within 94 AHL Colorado Eagles games with 42 points (17 goals). A rash of accidents to Avalanche forwards prompted the team to take a shot on Kaut. Now, he’s functioning to make the trust of his teammates.

“I haven’t seen any major flaws in his match, I think he’s been tremendously competitive, and that & ’s discovering a means to make a scoring chance or help develop a scoring chance or 2 per night,” trainer Jared Bednar said. “That’s report from the Eagles, also. ”

Kaut, 20, recorded his first NHL stage with an assist at Anaheim.  He intercepted a pass near the blue line, quickly zipped the puck to J.T. Compher, and also his one-timer gave Colorado a 1-0 victory.

Kaut’s hustle once more was on display Wednesday in setting up his own goal. He pioneered the action by dumping the puck into the zone, even posting up facing the net, and shooting a rally past Sabres goalie Carter Hutton. And then celebrated.

“I’m enjoying every match and every minute on the ice,” Kaut stated. “I don’t know should I’m playing in the game or not, so I play tough. ”

The Avs (37-18-7) are 4-0 using Kaut in the lineup and intention to keep that streak alive Friday night in Carolina (35-23-4).
