The Avalanche will seem to goalie Philipp Grubauer on Tuesday night to help stop a three-game losing streak in home. Colorado is currently 3-11-2 in its last 16 games but confronts a Columbus team that is also struggling.
Columbus (28-20-3, 59 points) is on a five-game slide.
The Avs (22-21-8, 52 points) are finishing a five-game elongate in the home, broken up from the NHL All-Star rest and also the team ’s designated bye week. Goalie Semyon Varlamov has started seven of the previous eight games for the Avs, with gone 2-5. Grubauer took the reduction Jan. 23 against visiting Minnesota in Colorado’s last match ahead of the nine-day break.
Avs coach Jared Bednar dropped to name Tuesday’s starter following Monday’s practice.
