The Avs lasted Achilles heels of both defense and target tending was exposed again through this past losing streak. I really don’t think the sky is falling yet, but are you privvy to any rumors or innuendo about the Avs eventually looking outside of the club and previous draft selections to locate some better goal tending or trading for any updates on the rear line (i.e., a high priced defensemen who can play both ends of the ice)? I attempt to take a seat in the stands for a Broncos game each season, and have tried to get it done each season because I got to city in 1983. Why? I believe watching games from the press box is seeing from a bubble. I confess I get out from the stands to watch a match about every year. But let me say: I’m not particularly fond of the atmosphere at Broncos games. The whole stadium experience looks a bit sterile. I believe the stadium doesn’t have far more personality than your normal shopping mall. I would like to hear from season-ticket holders to see if they concur. I would much rather spend my money for a date at the Pepsi Center. The NFL is best viewed on tv unless you’ve got a tribe at the stadium for tailgate with and live-and-die with on each down during the game. You hang out in the same areas as the Joker? Please. Do tell. Perhaps you’ve got a livelier coffee shop than I really do. But I really like your question. Most great sports teams on the increase would be a brotherhood. They make better together. They take around the world collectively. And that’s fun. We saw that with a youthful set of Rockies in 2008. We saw that with the group that played protection for Wade Phillips and won Super Bowl 50 for the Broncos. We are seeing that with all the Nuggets now. And it is quite cool. But it seldom lasts more than a couple of years, at all. You know why? The business of sport has in the way. Guys wish to get paid, as they should. And company gets in the way of the brotherhood. It happened with all the Rocktober crew. How many Broncos from the Super Bowl staff remain here? Peyton Manning? TJ WArd? Aqib Talib? Life moves on. And the brotherhood fades. It will occur to the Nuggets, too. Let’s hope it doesn’t occur for two or even three or four years. But the Nuggets have to ride the wave now.One of the things that USED to appeal to me personally concerning the Broncos was that they appeared to have a minimal number of egotistical me-first guys. While not making an announcement in their current state of affairs in that regard, that really does appear like a characteristic of the Nuggets team. I run into Nicola occasionally (not saying ) and he seems to be quite a down-to-earth and humble dude who just wants to help his group win.I keep hearing that Pagano or even Munchak would be front runners for Broncos HC. You’re correct that this sounds just like a John Fox transfer. Also, Kubiak since OC will keep the offense stuck in and old school fashion. I’d rather watch Vic Fangio with somebody just like Zac Taylor as OC. Thoughts?Call me crazy, but I believe around two of Josh McDaniels since the Broncos’ coach actually makes a lot of sense. What say you, Kiz?I say you should seek professional help. Or consider cutting back on the beer before 5 pm. Just kidding. And I only kid the ones I love. Yes, Josh McDaniels is a more brilliant football mind than anybody the Broncos are interviewing. Yes, you would hope Kic McD has grown up a little since his previous go-round as Broncos coach. But that go-round was a disaster,  don’t you agree? Hey, everybody deserves a second chance. And some couples that get divorced do get remarried. But McDaniels redux in Denver? No way. No how.Can you tell me the nine players taken ahead of the time Denver is on the clock? As I’ve written and said many times, my rule for drafting early in the first round is simple: Take the player you believe has the best chance to be a perennial Pro Bowler, regardless of position. Pro Bowlers help you win championships. Drafting for need in the first round is for losers.PS: If John Elway thinks his franchise quarterback is available in this draft, trade up to get him. Go big. Swing big. But that being said, I don’t see franchise QB in this draft. In 2020? That’s a different story. Bomb for Fromm. Jake Fromm. Georgia. I like him.And with the 10th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select. . .DJ LeMahieu is a better baseball player than Brian Dozier. Period. End of story. I would rather have DJ than Brian. All day long. All summer long. All the way to the World Series. But baseball is a business. DJ wants to get paid. The Rockies balked at investing in a veteran for the long haul.Truth be told, investing long-term in a position player during his 30s does not generally make business sense. We all  love Charlie Blackmon. But before his contract is done, will Chuck still be Nazty? I’m not so sure.I would like DJ to come back to the Rockies. More important, manager Bud Black would like to have DJ back. But he would have to give the Rockies a major “hometown” discount. From a business perspective, that’s a hard thing to do in a business where a player’s years of earning the big bucks do not go on forever.Let´s crown Kiszla as Broncos GM for a day. Your first move would be??? I want to write Nuggets in a major way. I want to write Rockies, to explore their offseason moves, or lack thereof. I even want to write Avs, a team that has issues. But here’s the deal. When I write Bronocs, the peeps click on the story, the peeps read, the peeps react. Want me to write more Nuggets and Rockies? Tell your friends to click on my basketball and baseball columns,, then get a digital subscription. Yes,, that’s a shameless plug. It’s also the way of the journalism world in 2019. But I will tell you this: I never want to be all Broncos all the time. That might be good for some other media folks in this sports town. And I think 104.3 does a great job. But I care about all sports in what I think is a great sports town.Nuggets, Nuggets, Nuggets! Jump on that bandwagon now. Nikola Jokic is real deal. He is the best passing big man since Bill Walton. And Joker might be the best player that can’t jump since … Larry Bird? OK, maybe I’m getting a little carried away. Bur right here, right now, Jokic is a bona fide MVP candidate. How far can the Nuggets go, when healthy? Here’s my main deal: The NBA playoffs are often a harsh lesson to master for a team with little playoff experience. If the Nuggets drew LeBron James or Houston in the first round, those wily vets would lean on the Joker hard. Are he and his teammates ready for the pressure of that? There’s only one way to find out. But the Warriors have not yet shown they are serious about winning it all this season. That will probably change as the playoffs grow closer and Steph, KD, Klay and Draymond get more interested. But if this isn’t Golden State’s year, then it’s wide open. Are the Nuggets ready to kick down that door? Let’s hope so.Every time I see the Nuggets play this year, I get more impressed. They’re winning close games late, Nikola Jokic is a bona fide stud and the depth on this roster is off the charts. How far can they go?John Harbaugh? David Shaw? Matt Campbell? OK, so none of my choices are going to happen. The informed speculation has established Mike Munchak as the betting favorite. Munchak, a Hall of Fame offensive lineman, is a contemporary of John Elway. In fact, they shared the same agent when both played in the league. I’d  prefer to see Chuck Pagano, but it’s not my choice. And I can’t tell you Pagano would be great. Munchak or Pagano. Pagano or Munchak. Sounds a lot like John Fox to me.Kiz, let’s play predict the future. The 2019 Denver Broncos head coach will be . . .Hey, everybody. Let’s get this chat started. Nuggets rule!
