Matt Rife Announces Cancellations on His ProbleMATTic World Tour

Matt Rife has announced that a number of performances on his ProbleMATTic World Tour have been postponed due to illness; these shows include Chicago’s famed Laugh Factory and Tennessee’s Ryman Auditorium. An email sent out by Rife informed ticket holders of these cancellations.

Ohio native Nick Young rose to fame in 2022 after a video clip of his crowd work went viral on TikTok, leading him to create his debut special on Netflix titled Natural Selection.

Born and raised in Columbus Ohio

Matt Rife hails from a small Ohio town about one hour west of Columbus. As a teenager he began attending comedy shows and performing at open mic nights at Columbus Funny Bone. With an irreverent sense of humor and relatable persona he quickly made himself known in the comedy world.

Since then, he has created various comedy specials and signed with Netflix to release Natural Selection on their streaming platform. Additionally, he appeared on a short-lived television series Wild ‘N Out and movies such as Room 236, Black Pumpkin and American Typecast.

Matt Rife recently had to cancel two shows in Indiana due to health reasons. Originally scheduled to perform at Indiana University (IU) on May 29, he had to cancel due to exhaustion causing near fainting before going on stage and has had to postpone shows scheduled in Chicago and Nashville due to this medical emergency.

The cancellations have generated widespread outrage against Rife’s comedy and have opened up heated discussions over whether such jokes should be allowed to offend vulnerable groups of people. While some argue “dark” humor can be effective, others contend it does more harm than good; Rife insists his comedy is harmless and does not intend to hurt anyone and plans on using the platform as a means for reaching new audiences.

ProbleMATTic World Tour began on July 20,2023 and will run through 2024 with performances in North America, Australia and Europe. Unfortunately he recently had to postpone two shows in Indiana due to extreme fatigue; ticket holders were offered refunds.
