Almost as though they’ve been awaiting Fast and Furious 9 into premiere, more and more theaters across North America are re-opening ahead of the June 25 premiere. Now Regal Cinemas and Pepsi have combined forces to relight the flame of moviegoing crowds and make fans excited to see the next chapter of this franchise on the big screen.

Star Tyrese Gibson was invited into a Regal Cinemas occasion in Houston, and he talked to Screen Rant in prep for the big day. Did he share his excitement over returning to film theaters in general, in addition, he offered some insight into coping with director Justin Lin again on F9 and filming Morbius for the Sony Marvel universe.

Regal Cinemas and Pepsi have a wonderful chance for individuals to speak with you about getting into movie theaters. Tyrese Gibson: How far back would you like to go, man? I have been going to theaters my whole life. I can take you back into Menace II Society, Boyz n the Hood. I can also take you back into Colors, man.

I wound up watching Joker movie most recently, before everything went down in the country – or even the world, for that issue. I wound up connecting with Todd Phillips therefore I could tell him how much his movie meant to me. Being able to say that the words ,”The movie was so incredible, I was mad that I didn’t have a pause button.” There were a lot of moments that occurred in the theater where I was just like,”Hold on, I need a minute.”

Regal Theaters doing so with Pepsi is a major thing. Because the globe opening up – or being open, because a lot of countries and states are back available – means being able to produce and possess this energy and momentum about bringing people back into the theater. I feel really lucky to be part of a franchise that has this kind of cultural phenomenon. Following; it is simply beautiful. If you are going to find anybody into theaters, it is going to be because of Fast and Furious.

There’s little doubt about it. There’s something about being in a theater with other people and reacting to a movie; you can not reduplicate that power inside the room. What’s your favorite theater beverage?

Tyrese Gibson: Here’s the thing, though I can be honest, I hate waiting in line when I go into the theaters. And if there is an opportunity for me to just go mad and eat everything in sight, then for a certain reason, fitness and health and being conscious of what you are ingesting – calorie counting, GMO, 2 percent milk, and whatever is happening in the whole world – everything goes out the door. It simply disappears. It’s out of here.

I have a tendency to go mad with all the nacho cheese, the chicken hands with the ketchup and barbecue sauce, and a big – maybe not medium or small – popcorn with all the excess butter. I often people off, because I’m just there with all the butter and the popcorn, performing full circles and making certain it does not have butter just at the top but goes all the way through the entire circumstance. And to this day, man, the butter isn’t simply so amazing in my popcorn – I can not believe it is free. I can not believe they do not possess a credit card system there that you are supposed to swipe to be able to find butter put in your popcorn. It’s just my favorite thing, man. Even through the opening credits, I’m like,”If I don’t slow down, my popcorn’s gonna be gone before the movie starts.”

I simply love the cuddles that occur in the theater. I love the top fives that occur in the theater. I like the surprises and hearing everybody cheering and clapping, and the energy. I love that Regal is collaborating with Pepsi and producing this energy that is going to go down in Houston. I’m literally flying into town to try it, and it is going to become a minute.

It says everything about the statement that Fast and the Furious is earning by not being a different film that is being released in theaters and going into streaming. We are going to drive this car , pun intended. We are going to drive this vehicle and also take this bull by the horns, and state,”No, we’re not going to go theater and streaming. We’re going to do it like this and re-spark what we all know and love about the true theater experience.”

I’m doing my own Fast and Furious marathon. I’m doing two films a day beginning now, and also on Saturday, we have got our tickets to see the movie with a live audience. However, I know that you’ve been incognito together with your theater experience, sometimes going to find the movie with your own fans. Can you speak to me about how all started?

Tyrese Gibson: First of all, I’m a enormous fan of Screen Rant, and when they told me I had been doing this interview with you guys this afternoon , I was like,”Oh man, one of my favorite sites.” Because you guys have ever got the newest, best scoop.

However, when you do a film premiere, which you’ve been to lots of, it is a little stuffy in there even a bit. People who would like to laugh, they’ll provide you a nod laugh. Or they’ll just be like,”Movies is what I make, so I’m not going to be screaming and yelling and high five-ing.” To me, watching the movies with all the lovers who have been rocking for 20 years or 10 years or anything – people were in high school, and they are married now. They have fiancés, they have kids, they have teenagers.

It’s currently this family heritage for the boyfriend, the girlfriend, the kids – we’re all going to find this collectively. A whole lot of women can find themselves saying,”I’m not into action movies,” but they’ll say,”All of the men in the movie are handsome, and we want to go see the handsome men.” And the fellows wish to see the sexy ladies, so everyone has something that is happening in the Fast and the Furious they would like to see.

I feel very honored and thankful to be part of something that has such a cult following. And proudly, we just hit 6 billion in the box office worldwide, which is no small accomplishment. Especially because we do not have 40 years of people studying Fast and Furious comic books to then have it turned into a film. Or it wasn’t a TV series that became a film. It was all from an article in Vibe magazine concerning the underground car culture in New York. And here we are 20 years later, still releasing those pictures. And typically, we’re all like,”I don’t know why they love us the way they do, but thank God they did.”

It’s one of the very greatest movie franchises in the history of cinema, and now we’ve got Justin Lin coming straight back into this Fast franchise. Can you speak to me a bit about coping with Justin? The Fast franchise and also Justin Lin are just interchangeable with summer and also with pictures to me. Can you speak about working with him, and if he brought something new into the table for your character?

Tyrese Gibson: First of all, even in case you need me to shout, discuss Justin Lin. I simply love him, man. I simply enjoy Justin Lin. We have such a special and exceptional relationship, because we pull from each other; we inspire each other; we have numerous off-the-record conversations that wind up showing on record from what ends up happening.

There’s always fires that are being put outside, and Justin sends me to these assignments. Saying, “Look, man. This person is really stressed out about this scene and don’t really know how to go about it. I’ve tried my best to talk to her or him about it. Mr. Positivity that is constantly giving love and creating power and momentum to make sure that, in the middle of how lucky we are, how can we just all make sure we’re having fun?

Justin Lin is very aggressive, and I’ve noticed that firsthand from looking in Fast 9. He resigned with heading 7 and 8 – that has been James Wan, who’d 7, then F. Gary Gray came in to do Fast 8. And so Justin needed to pull out his needle and thread and weave particular areas of both of the he did not guide, and integrate them to 9.

When you notice it, you will observe he incorporated elements of them. Then you will see how much film he put into Fast 8, and as soon as it ends, you are gonna be mad it endd. Especially since we have been in quarantine annually, you are going to be like,”It should have been a four-hour movie!”

I need 10 and 11 correct now. Something about the Fast franchise brings the summer Blockbuster to me. It is a cinematic adventure in its very best. But in this movie, you guys go to space. Where would you need Roman’s experience to go next?

But Fast isn’t the only movie franchise you are going to become part of this season. Morbius is going to be coming out, which I’m tremendously excited for. How do you tell us about that?

Tyrese Gibson: There’s only so much I can speak to about that as well. But working with Daniel Espinosa frightened the hell out of me. He is definitely a very specific and very competitive director, I’ll state that loosely. Because I’ve just never seen or worked with anybody who knows every part of everything in each department, and has their finger on the heartbeat of making certain they are driving the vehicle, the way he does. And Jared Leto is still definitely one of the most intense actors I’ve ever worked with. It took a minute to fix him being a method actor and becoming fully in character the whole time.

The film got pushed for evident reasons. And the simple fact that it is coming out in October, to take advantage of their Halloween spirit, is going to be interesting and cool. And I look forward to that, man. I look forward to dropping in that. I signed a 3 movie deal with Marvel, and I’m currently in talks with placing another two on its toes. I’m excited, man.

My own life is blessed. This has this really is all felt – if I can be blunt with you – enjoy a long limousine ride. Because when you’d prom, the limo pulls up, you got butterflies in your tummy. However, you knew at a specific stage, because your mama booked the limo for 2 to 10 hours, that the limousine was going to go off. And I’ve been in the limousine now for 20 years, doing something that has to do with having an entertainer. And I simply can not believe my life. I’m thankful and I’m honored that my phone is still ringing.
