A month after transition to ‘Safer at Home’ phase, COVID-19 cases steadily declining in Colorado

DENVER (KDVR) — More than just a month after Colorado switched out of a “Stay at Home” order to “Safer at Home,” there hasn’t been a spike in COVID-19 instances.

The latest data in the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment indicates the average of instances, dependent on the coverage date, has steadily diminished since April 25.

“They’re continuing to trend down and that’s actually encouraging,” said Dr. Beth Carlton, an assistant professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the Colorado School of Public Health, that ’s also on the nation ’s coronavirus modeling staff.

“It hasn’t been kind of snap reopen as soon as we flocked to Safer at Home,” Carlton said. “Instead, it’s been this slow, gradual ratcheting reopen of distinct companies over time. ”
