Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings will share the property, or at least the stage again, this summer as the Guess Who duo hits the road for two dozen dates, mainly in their native Canada.
The trek, charged as Bachman-Cummings: Together Again Live in Concert, is the very first in a decade for a duo (followed by five additional players). It will include not just the Guess Who hits but also favorites from Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Cummings’ solo career. “It’s waiting na be 35, 40 hit songs which will sound like the album,” Bachman informs Billboard. “No Las Vegas, Bill Murray on Saturday Night Live parodies of their own songs; This is gonna be exactly like the album, just. ”
The tour kicks off June 13 in Hubert Heights, Ohio, and performs six Midwest U.S. dates before going north of the border for the rest of the excursion, finishing Aug. 8 in Grand Forks, B.C.. The June 27 series at the Guess Who’s hometown of Winnipeg will be part of historical celebrations for the city and the province of Manitoba. The duo will be publishing The Bachman Cummings Collection in June via Sony Music Entertainment, a box collection that includes the Guess Who records Bachman played on as well as substance by Bachman and Cummings. The tour comes together with the anniversary of the Guess Who’s hit single, a cover of Johnny Kidd & the Pirates’ “Shakin’ All Over,” and also the anniversary of this iconic “American Woman. ”

“The timing to this particular sounds right for both of us,” Bachman says. “And as time goes by, I find the me personally and Burton and the lovers, the songs mean more and increasingly. The songs seem more applicable to approximately four or five years of lovers, from teenage kids . This ’s an remarkable thing. ” The simple fact that it’s Bachman and Cummings makes a difference as well, the duo contends.
“There are one or two imitation Guess Who rings on the market,” Cummings notes. “There have been a couple of different aggregations of BTO with no Randy. I believe it’s nice the real men are moving out. Randy and I will be the men who staged the songs and composed. Folks understand the difference. They go see the Guess Who and they also ’re quite disappointed that there’s s not. There’s something to be said for its men going out. It s more valuable every year which Randy and I can go out and perform these songs. Folks are extremely excited about this, and it creates Randy and me thrilled. ”
The seeds to the reunion were planted last June, when Bachman and Cummings played a duo in Casa Loma in Toronto to reap the Canadian Walk of Fame. In the end of August, meanwhile, Bachman produced a surprise guest appearance during Cummings’ headlining set in the Canadian National Exhibition, also in Toronto. “That only started the telephone and the traces and we decided to keep the ball rolling from there,” ” Bachman recalls.
The duo does not have any plans to write or record any audio — “There’s radio or no business anymore,” Bachman notes — and Cummings doesn as a negative at all.
“I’m quite content to sing the most famed songs for the rest of my profession,” he says. “Do you understand how difficult it was to get those hit records? What’s wrong with singing them for the rest of your life? There’s nothing wrong with this. ”
