Post Malone criticised for not cancelling arena show amid coronavirus crisis

Post Malone has obtained backlash for moving through with his sold-out show as many artists continue to cancel their tours amid the expanding coronavirus crisis.

With the current situation , the past week has seen the likes of The Who, Madonna, Pearl Jam and My Chemical Romance shelve their scheduled tour dates. Festivals including Coachella, Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Snowbombing also have been cancelled in a bid to curtail the outbreak.

Live Nation — that the promotors behind Malone’s current stint — are also reported to be cancelling all of their forthcoming tours at the coming days, though a formal statement is yet to be made.

Regardless of the crackdown, Post Malone continuing with the next leg of his ‘Runaway’ tour on Thursday evening (March 12), taking to the stage at an 18,000-capacity place in Denver, Colorado.

In conclusion, some fans took to Twitter to air their criticism within the choice.

“Thought I saw empty seats for Post Malone at the center of COVID-19 outbreak. Out … it’s packaged. So much for distancing,” said Ryan Haarer, a reporter for Denver’s 9 News.

Elsewhere, one Twitter user described the Pepsi Center’s choice to proceed with the concert “horribly irresponsible. ” Another explained: “Wow. Wildly irresponsible and greedy. Thank you for the $300 reduction. Won’t even be moving, those will probably be seats. Definitely will not spend with Pepsi Center at the long run . ”

Colorado hasn’t yet put in place a ban on big public gatherings, though the government has encouraged citizens to offset their own accords so as to minimise risk.
