“Prayers for him”: Scary Kemba Walker injury bigger than basketball for Nuggets and Celtics

Jamal Murray entered a victorious postgame Nuggets locker room with anything larger than basketball in his head.

Murray needed to check on a buddy.

A boisterous crowd in the Pepsi Center fell quiet Friday night near the end of the next quarter when Celtics point guard Kemba Walker laid motionless on the floor for several minutes. A crash to the abdomen of teammate Semi Ojeleye crumpled Walker to the courtroom and left everyone else fearing the worst — a head or neck injury.

It directed the Nuggets’ starting point protector to quickly grab his phone following a 96-92 win.

“I simply mailed (Walker) a text since he & ’therefore using Excel, so that he ’s with the identical agency,” Murray said. “You never wish to find any accidents like this. Prayers for him, and that’therefore the (Celtics) came out and played as hard as they could. ”

Walker’s early identification brought a lot of relief. He was transported to a local hospital with “concussion-like symptoms,” per the Celtics’ official Twitter account, and Boston coach Brad Stevens stated halftime scans of Walker yielded “great effects ” without providing details.

A Nuggets home audience with a Celtics fan contingent gave Walker a standing ovation because he has wheeled off the court.

“I saw (Walker) at the ambulance at halftime that required him to the hospital and he had his wherewithal. He was in decent spirits, that was great, obviously,”” Stevens said. “It’so hard on both groups to find that. … The mind injury thing is super scary, so that you ’re considering it. ”

The Nuggets felt the dark cloud hanging over the last two quarters.

“Nobody likes to see anybody injured, especially like this (where) he wants to be taken from the game from the courtroom,” center Nikola Jokic explained. “I think we all need to protect ourselves, your teammates, opponents, anything. I mean, it’s game. We are leading these breaths together, therefore we need to guard each other. ”
