Nashville (9-5-2) scored two in the first five minutes of goals from forwards Filip Forsberg and Duchene. Instead of unraveling, though, Colorado turned up the pressure and turned a deficit to an 8-3 lead. A 8-minute stretch at the second produced aims from Donskoi (twice), Graves, Burakovsky, Nieto and Calvert. The Predators substituted Rinne in net using Juuse Saros when the Colorado advantage reached 5-3 along with the Avs poured in three goals to finish the period. Defenseman Nikita Zadorov also shook the match in the moment with an upper-body accident and has been ruled out.
Donskoi capped his hat trick off with just two minutes. Nashville also added a goal in forward Craig Smith.
“The most important thing was stopping the streak,” Donskoi explained. “We’ve been speaking a lot about scoring goals and we’ve been struggling the past few games discovering the back of the web. This was the focus . ”
MacKinnon was particularly brilliant using four points (one goal and 3 assists) along with 10 shot attempts since Colorado remains without injured forwards Gabe Landeskog, Mikko Rantanen and Colin Wilson. However, MacKinnon also left the game in the third period with an upper-body accident and did not return. Bednar known as it “precautionary. ”
Makar started the night leading all NHL rookies in points and also added three more with a single goal and two assists.
The Avalanche will plan to take their newfound momentum to Saturday night against the Blue Jackets (6-7-3).
