Lindsey Vonn among six to be inducted into Colorado Sports Hall of Fame

Lindsey Vonn will likely be among six new members inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame following April following a recent vote of the election committee.

Vonn will be connected by Bob Gebhard, Alonzo Babers, George Gwozdecky, Terry Miller and Erin Popovich in the annual banquet April 23 at Denverthe hall of fame announced Tuesday.

Vonn, a World Cup ski champion and Olympic medalist, is the winningest women. She will be joined by former Colorado Rockies general manager Gebhard, that was the GM of the Rockies.

He functioned in his manager character from 1992 till he resigned in 1999. Prior to that, he pitched in the major leagues for the Minnesota Twins and Montreal Expos .

Babers is a gold medalist who obtained his two awards at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles at the 400 meters and relay.

George trained the Denver Pioneers hockey group for 19 seasons and won back packs NCAA titles.

Miller is a former Heisman Trophy runner-up that was a three sport athlete in Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs. He played soccer, basketball and ran track and is believed to be among the greatest high school running backs in state history. As a senior, he ran for 2,785 yards since the Marauders completed since the 1973 Class 3A country runners-up. Miller ended up playing profession soccer with the Buffalo Bills after visiting overall at the 1978 NFL draft.

Rounding out the 2020 course is Popovich, who’s also bound for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame.

Popovich has won 19 overall awards and 14 gold medals in swimming events in three joint Paralympic games. Popovich has been recognized for her achievements twice since she’s been won the ESPY Award for Best Female Athlete with a Disability.

The Selection Committee will make their selection for its 2019 athletes of the year this January in a banquet where they realize high school, collegiate, professional and Olympic athletes in the Hilton Denver City Center banquet.

The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame was founded in 1965 has 264 individuals as of the selection meeting.
