Review – Cirque Du Soleil’s Corteo Intertwines Life, Death and Entertainment

From August 15 through 22 the Cirque du Soleil traveling series “Corteo” ceases in Denver to transform the Pepsi Center into a microcosm of angelic whimsy and lighthearted worldly departures. Corteo debuted in Montreal, Canada in 2005 and has experienced a variety of production improvements simply because to make the arena-sized spectacle which exists today. As no flash photography is permitted during the series, we stopped by during rehearsal to capture the magical details that make the world-renowned shown called Corteo. Tickets are still available here.

Corteo assembles its inspiration from its Italian significance, which translates into procession. The celebratory circus parade themed operation is contrasted by the storyline of a clown moving through his funeral and death from the mortal world. Throughout his transitionary stage from Earth into the heavens, the protagonist encounters an otherworldly selection of playful angels and theatrical personalities that direct (and frequently mischievously misguide) him through the dream state. With thought-provoking topics painting during and both bountiful minutes of comedic relief, Corteo retains each member of this crowd engaged and enthralled for the duration of the series. The stage stays full of surprises as the awe-inspiring feats compete together in creativity and execution. Each both brilliant in their own right, the many acrobatics defy logic to push the boundaries of what’s possible to illicit the classic uproar of applause expected in a circus setting.

A specially enthusiastic cheer from the crowd began if a pint-sized character began floating from the stage into the crowd by means of enormous helium balloons. The woman used the crowd members palms as stepping stones to create her way back to this stage, but not before scatter her peppery commentary through the onlooking participants.
