Nuggets schedule released: Counting down Denver’s must-see home games in 2019-20

The Nuggets published their whole schedule to the 2019-20 year on Monday afternoon, also there are plenty of yummy matchups to look forward to.  The regular season starts Oct. 23 at Portland and can be accompanied closely by the home opener two days later against Phoenix on Friday, Oct. 25.

Here are 10 of the favorites coming back to the Pepsi Center this year:

10. Milwaukee, Monday, March 9 (ALT) — The Nuggets defeat each and every team in the NBA last year except for two: Milwaukee along with Brooklyn. Without a flexible, two-way wing on the roster, Giannis Antetokounmpo was just a terrible matchup for them. He averaged 25.5 points on 58 percent shooting 38 minutes per match — the most from any team in the NBA. It’s against teams like the Bucks that offseason acquisition Jerami Grant is going to be priceless. His length and defensive acumen might be their very best chance at knocking off Milwaukee.

9. Philadelphia, Friday, Nov. 8 (ALT) — Nikola Jokic got 59 first-place votes a year on the way to his first-team All-NBA choice. Joel Embiid made 40, while Rudy Gobert (strangely?) Drew one. The debate raged on throughout the next half of the year a year: Who would be your NBA’s greatest center? Jokic ended fourth in MVP voting, essentially verifying that he had the better year. There is no uncertainty Embiid will require this game personally.

8. San Antonio, Monday, Feb. 10 (ALT) — In retrospect, the Spurs were the perfect team to usher the Nuggets into their brand new postseason era. They’d celebrity talent (DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge), overachieving young gamers (Parker’s own Derrick White) and a legendary coach, Gregg Popovich, who simply was a mentor to Nuggets coach Michael Malone. After decoding Pop’s system, the Nuggets should now correct for Spurs PG Dejounte Murray, who had been hurt last year. Don’t be surprised if San Antonio makes a substantial leap defensively (or when Trey Lyles rediscovers his confidence at the Spurs’ strategy.)

7. Los Angeles Clippers, Sunday, Jan. 12 (ALT) — Once the Clippers got a dedication from Kawhi Leonard and then landed Paul George, it elicited a pressing question for Western Conference executivesWhat’therefore the perfect method to stop two of their very finest two-way wings at the NBA? As last season’s Finals revealed, slowing Leonard is a job in and of itself. The Nuggets find themselves at an adequate position when it comes to including the Clippers’ lethal combination. Grant, who knows George nicely from their time at Oklahoma City, and Torrey Craig are exceptional wing defenders. Whether the remainder of Denver’s crime can counter their scoring punch will ultimately determine their opportunities against the title favorite.

6. Los Angeles Lakers, Tuesday, Dec. 3 (ALT) — Missing the playoffs didn’t sit well with LeBron James, that ’s accustomed to Finals conducts, not ancient summers. Last year’s disappointing result prompted the Lakers to exchange a trove of resources to Anthony Davis — which momentarily gave the Lakers the NBA’s greatest mix of star power. It’therefore not often the Lakers get overshadowed and certainly not by a team within their town. James has made clear that he ’s on a mission this forthcoming season. What type of immunity will the Nuggets offer?

5. Utah, Thursday, Jan. 30 (TNT) — The Nuggets caught a break considering how this past year’s playoff seedings broke. In this writer’s opinion, they wanted no more part of the Utah Jazz, whose glut of large guys would’ve made life difficult for Jokic. This offseason the Jazz made arguably among the very greatest roster overhauls in the whole league. They gained Mike Conley from Memphis, signed Bojan Bogdanovic and created shrewd signings in the margins. The Jazz are powerful Western Conference contenders who are a roadblock for the Nuggets.

4. Houston, Wednesday, Nov. 20 (ALT) — After nine consecutive losses to the Rockets, the Nuggets finally snapped that ignominious series last year. And now the Rockets, unafraid of creating drastic changes, have an entirely new strategy. Gone is the future Hall of Famer Chris Paul, substituted by another, more electric, more ball-dominant future Hall of Famer at Russell Westbrook. Everything is still predicated on James Harden, however the Nuggets will have two alpha puppies to cease along with Houston’s grand throw of 3-point gunners.

3. Portland, Thursday, Dec. 12 (TNT) — Is your sass still there? The Nuggets get a shot at salvation — albeit a small one — when the Trail Blazers come to the town. Last year, ’s exciting seven-game series matched the two budding competitions against each other for a shot in the conference finals. Denver did a wonderful job in limiting Damian Lillard, while his counterpart, C.J. McCollum, cut on the Nuggets up in Game 7. It’d ’t been a worthy nightcap on Christmas Day. Instead, the Nuggets can exact some measure of revenge even earlier against the restored Blazers.

2. Golden State, March 3 (ALT) — Remember last year when the prevailing theme about the Warriors was that they were no longer motivated because they’d won consecutive championships? That argument no longer holds water, since the obvious death of a dynasty has begun. Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson gave the Nuggets several humbling games last year that laid bare how far Denver must go. Although Kevin Durant is no longer there, the Warriors still have a tournament DNA — and also one the remainder of the league will be wise not to question.

1. New Orleans, Wednesday, Dec. 25 (ESPN/ALT) — A Christmas match? In Denver? Is that the sound of respect I hear? The NBA rewarded the Nuggets for last year’s exceptional season and granted them their first Christmas match because 2012. The league realized Jokic’s unique appeal and acknowledged the Nuggets’ burgeoning talent. With that said, Zion Williamson is almost always likely to be the headliner in every match he plays this year. He better get used to the concept of playing Christmas.
