Forget “Jets general manager Peyton Manning,” how about “NFL owner Peyton Manning? ”
That’s what Manning’s former Colts teammate Reggie Wayne said Monday on the NFL Network when asked what he thought about The Sheriff potentially joining the Jets.
“General manager? Absolutely not,” Wayne said. “You think Peyton Manning would give an owner an opportunity. Peyton, he would not allow that. … What I do see him doing is being an owner. I see him being down the line. That’s of Peyton Manning. ”
On what kind of owner Manning could he be, Wayne said: “I think he’d be the new Jerry Jones. I think he ll be an owner/GM. He won’t do as many media obligations as Jerry does, but I see him being that kind of owner. ”

In accordance with SportsNet New York, 1 person close to Manning said being a general manager is “not a job he seems to want. ”
Manning hasn’t made any public comments on the rumors, but he did send retired tennis star Andy Roddick a movie while he was on the golf course.
